Paul Howard first developed a passion for supporting LUPUS UK because his friend, Heather, lived with the disease. Paul began fundraising for the charity in 2009 then, after graduating from university, began volunteering part-time in spring 2011. Paul launched LUPUS UK’s social media profiles and developed the charity’s online presence. In October 2011, he joined the team as a full-time member of staff. In March 2020, Paul was appointed as LUPUS UK’s Chief Executive Officer. Paul has led the charity during the COVID-19 pandemic when demand for its services reached new highs. In recent years, the charity has expanded its staff team to incorporate new roles including Health Information Officer, Volunteer Coordinator and Young People & Family Support Officer.
