TH+ Expert Webinar with Doro Pasantes: Explaining oxygen therapy
Without oxygen, none of us would be here! The holy-grail gas is vital for all of the cells in our body to create energy and repair any damage our cells might sustain on a day-to-day basis.
When our tissues get damaged, so do the capillaries that are in them. This means that oxygenated blood can’t reach these areas of damage, so they heal slowly or don’t recover at all. That’s why oxygen therapy is thought to be beneficial for the management of the symptoms and tissue damage experienced by people living with multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions.
Oxygen therapy also provides health benefits for some people living with long COVID. Anecdotally, those who have made use of the chambers report that they can breathe more easily, are in less pain and have better energy levels. These health benefits happen because of the increased absorption of oxygen into the blood that occurs during therapy. This reduces any inflammation in the body.
The network of Multiple Sclerosis National Therapy Centres includes some of the only places to offer oxygen therapy in the UK. Knowing that so many of our members are affected by neurological conditions, we couldn’t think of anyone better than Doro Pasantes, CEO of The Brightwell Centre in Bristol, to tell us all about oxygen therapy.
In this webinar, Doro highlights the power of oxygen therapy in the management of symptoms of long-term neurological and chronic conditions.
This webinar answers these questions:
- What is oxygen therapy is and how does it work?
- What is a barochamber and why is it used during oxygen therapy?
- What are the benefits of oxygen therapy and who it is designed to treat?
- How can you access the therapy and what can I expect in a session?
- What are the health benefits of oxygen therapy for people with long COVID?
