Is there a cure for chronic pain?

Conditions that are called ‘chronic’ are rarely cured (such as asthma or diabetes) - chronic pain often is often independent of the disease process that originally caused it to happen and is due to changes in the nervous system. Most of the time we cannot cure a chronic pain but we can reduce the pain and make it more manageable for the patient.
