If your Ferritin level is extremely low does this have an impact on how effective your thyroid replacement therapy is?
do levels as low as 10 & 11 not signal that the patient my need treatment?

Re: Is a good Ferritin level essential?

A low ferritin suggests iron deficiency due to anaemia. It may well be seen in hypothyroidism but often responds to thyroxine treatment as the body becomes more 'normal'. If it persists further investigation is justified. Iron tablets may interfere with thyroxine absorption and so should be taken at a different time of day
