Hello - I have just been told I need to go on medication for this but just wondering how long you are on medication before they decide I might need to have an operation? Thanks

It depends on what medication exactly.

Typically, we would review your symptoms on tamsulosin or alfuzosin after a few weeks.

If it is Finasteride, the impact can be maximally assessed after 6 months.
