Eczema

I had very bad eczema for the first time last year at the age of 73. It was so bad my face was almost deformed with my eyes closed up. I saw a private Dermatologist who put me on 4 different steriod creams and told me to stay on them for between 6-12 weeks. Having read all the awful feedback on long term use of steriods I decided to stop them after
2 weeks and try a specialist eczema diet, homeopathic cream and being very careful with everything. It did take a long time but it finally all went. The dermatologist said it was Discoid eczema which can be found in older people and linked to stress, amongst other things. I'd had extreme amounts of that previously. I even did a home blood allergy test which said that gluten is a problem but not major. I've since found that tomatoes and strawberries can also trigger it off which is a shame as love both of them. However over the last week I've found that I have it coming back around my right eye, right in the corner near my eye.
Using anything in this area is difficult and it can really itch. Can you recommend anything please that I could use?

Hi there,

I'm sorry that you've been suffering with your skin.

I think you might benefit from Protopic 0.03% or 0.1% ointment which reduces inflammation and, in contrast to steroid creams, can be used quite safely in the longer run around the eyes.

Hope that helps a little!
