Spotty rashes in the sun

When on a sun holiday, I always end up with itchy red spotty rashes on my skin. Prickly heat? I use suntan lotion, take antihistamine tablets for a week prior and during my holiday and stay out of the sun as much as possible. Is there any way to prevent this or if not any way to treat it effectively?
Thank you

Re: Spotty rashes in the sun

Hi there,

It's quite likely you have polymorphic light eruption.

You can be referred to your local dermatologist for desensitisation which will 'harden' the skin. They will shine light on your skin to enable it to handle the harsher sun of summer. Alternatively, anti-malarial tablets such as hydroxychloroquine can be quite effective.

Hope that helps a little!
