seeking a diagnosis for symptoms

I have been suffering with extreme episodes of chronic fatigue ...nausea.. sleep deprivation...low blood pressure .. low mood for past 15 years since my periods stopped at age 47...

I also had hypothyroidism diagnosed around the same time 2007..

Blood tests over the years have revealed nothing other than anaemia once or twice.

Iv had different forms of HRT prescribed but apart from relief of night sweats the other symptoms remain ...

Blood tests have never revealed any other issues apart from anaemia one time ..

How can I get an answer as to whether my symptoms are due to menopause ...low oestrogen..or chronic fatigue.... I have been offered and prescribed anti-depressants in the past...

How can I get properly diagnosed to see if my symptoms are caused by low oestrogen or chronic fatigue..?

I am now 62 yrs and feel 80 most days .

Re: seeking a diagnosis for symptoms

This is very difficult as if you have tried HRT in the past and it was at the correct dose and it has not worked then I doubt your symptoms are due to your low oestrogen. As you are menopausal then you will have low oestrogen levels anyway and a blood test won’t help diagnose your problems. I am sorry you are having so many problems but hope you get it sorted.

Re: seeking a diagnosis for symptoms

Hello
Like Dr Georgi Fraser im sorry to hear you are having these bouts of horrible symptoms.
Just make sure that within all those bloods you have had that they have done a morning ( before 10am) cortisol. Addisons disease is often missed in primary care. As is coeliac so get a test for that too. Also have you lost weight? Do you need an endoscopy?
Don t give up and find a GP who will listen properly. And if it turns out to be more of a fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue type picture then find a specialist MDT programme.
This might not be gynae at all!
Very best wishes
