Psoriasis spots

A friend and i have always swapped stories about our psoriasis, as we both have a few round spots that flake over during the year. I have been diagnosed with psoriasis by a doctor. However my friend mentioned one time her few spots with her GP and turns out it was actually skin cancer and now she has to have regular checks, but they did look so similar to my psoriasis. Is there any simple way to see the difference?

Re: Psoriasis spots

Dear June,

Thank you for your question. There is no simple way to tell a difference between cancerous moles and psoriasis spots. If your psoriasis spot does not resolve with treatment or looks unusual it is probably a good idea to check it with your GP or dermatologist. Psoriasis patches usually look red with silvery scale and are well defined.
If it is of interest there is more information about psoriasis and available treatments, sand about kin cancers on my website: https://www.alexandroff.org.uk

I hope this is helpful.
