Re: Unilateral
Thanks for your post. A unilateral rash like this always makes me suspect a fungal infection. This can mimic eczema or psoriasis and if you have applied topical steroids on it then it is often Tinea incognito - Fungus in disguise! Ask your doctor to take some skin scrapings to look for fungal infection (also known as mycology).
Re: Unilateral
Hi,
Saw a dermatologist last year, had this for 18 months, spreading up arm, which is why I’ve tried steroid creams because biopsy said chronic inflammation possibly eczema but loss feeling not always Eczema, just found ice & capsaicin seem to help, problem is at the moment difficult to see another dermatologist which is why I’m here, the foraminal stenosis of left hand side of C4/7 was found due to headaches/ facial neuralgia

Re: Unilateral
The skin biopsy may show chronic inflammation but the eczema may still be due to a fungal infection. If a special fungal stain was performed on the skin biopsy then this may identify the problem, if not then a fungal infection can be missed. I think your GP may want to prescribe an anti-fungal cream in combination with a topical steroid as there is a lot of inflammation clinically on your skin and a purely anti fungal cream is unlikely to clear it up even if it is a fungal problem.
Re: Unilateral
Thank you, getting prescription tomorrow to try for a few weeks, fingers X
Re: Unilateral
Given me Trimovate cream, does burn a bit, but fingersX, two weeks, if it’s still there in a few weeks, shall I see another dermatologist as this clinic would have finished or see one anyway ?

Hello,
I work as a dermatologist and skin pathologist so I can say this - don't put blind faith in the biopsy result!
I would be HIGHLY suspicious of this being tinea incognito. As Dr. Bordet says, skin scrapings to look for fungus may give you the final answer!
Best wishes,
Sree

Re: Unilateral
I have been trying the trimovate for 5 days now, I know it’s not a long time but, the itching now keeps me awake, along with the burning in my spine, strange symptoms I know, with unbearably itchy red spots keep popping up, trying to post image but not easy on here, & trying to see dermatologist but not easy at the moment for some reason
