Eumovate

I have recently been prescribed Eumovate and the private dermatologist I consulted said to use it on my eyelids (against the advice of the GP who said it was too strong). I’m concerned in case there is long term damage if I do it / or don’t use it as I scratch in the night. Best advice please.

Re: Eumovate

Hi Felicity,

Eumovate is classified as a moderately potent steroid and so should not be used for protracted periods on areas of thin skin. It might be okay in short bursts in this area - my own practice is to use calcineurin inhibitors (e.g. Protopic 0.1%) as they are steroid-free and generally sufficiently strong to get the job done.

Hope that helps a little!
