Restless bladder Syndrome

I’m not sure if you can help but I’m absolutely desperate.

I have been suffering from bladder problems for over 5 years.

During the day my bladder function is normal, no issues at all but as soon as the night comes and I settle down to sleep my bladder goes crazy.

I get an unpleasant sensation in my lower abdomen and bladder. The only way to relieve the sensation is to empty my bladder, but that only provides temporary relief. Within several minutes the sensation returns. This goes on for many hours. At it’s worse I have been to empty my bladder over 40 times in one night.

I do not know how much more of this I can put up with. Over the years I have been referred to urologists and gynaecologists at different hospitals but nothing has helped. They always try to treat me for an overactive bladder, but I do not believe that is the issue and any medication for overactive bladder have not worked. However, if I take two tramadol in the evening then I experience no symptoms through the night.

I have come across two medical journals that talk about restless bladder syndrome and the issues described are exactly like mine. I have explained this to the doctors I have been referred to but I have been told that restless bladder syndrome is not something they have heard off.

I would be extremely grateful of any advice you could give me to eliminate or at least alleviate these symptoms.

Thank you
Kelly

Re: Restless bladder Syndrome

This is a tricky one. I have only ever seen a handful of such cases - have you tried Amitriptyline at night - this worked well for a couple of my patients.
