Lack of pelvic floor contry

Ever since I gave birth to my son in 1992, I have had urine control problems. I have been told to tighten my pelvic floor muscles. I don’t know how to and have never had any support from my local hospital or GP with this problem. I have been put on Solifenacin 10mg tablets and they don’t seem to be helping either. I wear leakage pants every day and night. I will be 60 in September and I hate not being able to wear pretty underwear like other people. It’s making my depression worse and I don’t like going out because of it.

There is lots of help out there - you should ask the GP to refer to a continence advisor or pelvic floor physiotherapist. I'm not surprised the tablets are not helping as it sound like you have stress urinary incontinence and the tablets are for overactive bladder syndrome / urge urinary incontinence.

As Mr Harding says, pelvic floor muscle training with a physiotherapist may make a big difference for you initially instead of medications. I would recommend asking for a referral to your local Continence care services to discuss this further.
