Not a mole - but what is it??
Good morning everyone
I'm hoping you can help and tell me what this small growth is please. My GP has assured me that it's not a mole. She has also stated I cannot have it removed on the NHS because it would count as cosmetic surgery even though its growing and now sometimes catches on my bra strap.
I really would like to have it removed, but obviously before I do that I need to know what it is! Also, how do I find someone reputable privately.
Thanks so much for any help you can give me.
Susan

Dear Susan,
Thank you for your question. The image is not very sharp I am afraid. Although this could be a mole (naevus) on this image it looks a little unusual and in my opinion it should be examined in person including dermoscopy equipment. If the lesion is benign it can still be removed on NHS if it causes a functional problem e.g. catches on clothes such as in your case. This is a simple minor procedure, there is more information available on my website if it is of interest (http://www.alexandroff.org.uk).
If you would prefer to have it removed privately there are a number of reputable private dermatologists available - you can check BUPA finder or check American Academy of Dermatologists find a dermatologist section.
I hope this is helpful.
With Best Wishes,
