Potentially returning to work

I am suffering with bowel leakage and have MS. I am considering going back to work but am worried about how I might cope. Do you know If someone needs adjustments to be made at work to help them manage (e.g. frequent toilet breaks, desk close to toilets etc) is the employer obliged to make these changes?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi Jenny

Prior to returning to work I suggest you request an appointment with the occupational health team as part of a return to work plan. This should be arranged via your employer. The occupational health team will assess your symptoms and the impact on the work environment and then organise any adjustments to ensure the environment is fit for purpose for your health needs.

Hi Jenny I would also add that you speak to you MS team and ask them for a review you r bowels and possibly a support letter to help with your transition back to work. This will help guide the Occupational Health team to conduct their assessment with more accuracy towards your needs.
