UTI symptoms

Hello
I am 25 and I have had 16 ‘UTI’s’ over the past 24month- my last result came back with very little protein however the pain and urges were by far the worst. The Dr I saw wasn’t sure if it was a UTI. What other issues have these symptoms and how do I go about ruling any of them out?

Thanks in advance
Rebecca

Hi Rebecca.
Poor you, that’s miserable. It sounds like you’re almost having one uti a month. Has your GP been able to identify the bacteria that’s causing your infections? This is normally found out when they send your urine for analysis in the laboratory.
You really should see a specialist, a urologist who can run some tests on your urine, and also look inside your bladder to ensure everything looks normal. They will, along with their specialist team, give good advise on managing and avoiding infections too
Good luck.

Also Rebecca, if it isn’t infections, but symptoms similar to an infection, the urology team you see will be able to tell you what to do if this is the case.

Hi Rebecca

I completely agree with Julie. As your symptoms are so frequent, I would definitely recommend seeing a Urologist to do some basic investigations. They will then be able to discuss things in more detail with you, and will be able to suggest ways to manage your symptoms.
