IBS-C
I have IBS. I currently take Colpermin and LAXIDO twice a day. I use Buscopan as PRN. Just lately constipation has been at huge problem. Indeed I went as long as 5 days without opening my bowels recently. I now opening bowels between 1 -2 days. I get extreme bloating and gas. Sometimes when on toilet, I get bad gas and burping. When I stain I get light headediness to the point of blacking out.
Are there any new IBS treatments I could try? My current medication is CELEBREX, Pregabalin, Baclofen, Morphine, Loratadine, Quietapine, Noritytpline and Arlevert.
Thanks
Mark

Re: IBS-C
Hi Mark,
First of all, I think you'd benefit from tweaking your diet to include more fibre and liquids as I explained in this post:

Also, you seem to be taking a lot of different medicines and I wonder if you have regular (at least annual) medication reviews at your pharmacy? If not I'd recommend asking for one, as your pharmacist will be able to check that your medications are the right ones for your condition, or whether any interact with each other, or could even be contributing to your constipation. For example, constipation can be a side effect of Nortriptyline.
If one or more of your medicines could be aggravating your IBS symptoms - namely your constipation, your pharmacist may suggest an alternative/s. Or it may simply be that you need to increase your fibre and fluid intake to counteract this unwanted side effect.
I hope this helps.
