Bowel irrigation system
Following lots of surgery after a burst appendix and gangarene, I use a successful bowel irrigation system. This has really helped with bowel blockage and bowel incontinence. Is long term use of this system a problem. Does the bowel become lazy?

Re: Bowel irrigation system
Hi,
It sounds like you went through a really difficult time, and I'm really pleased to hear that you've found a treatment to help keep your bowels regular and manage incontinence.
Bowel irrigation has good evidence and has been shown to be safe. It will not make the bowel lazy, and can certainly be used as a long term treatment.
If you're happy using the system and it is working to give you control over your bowels then it sounds like exactly the right treatment for you.
Best wishes,
