Re: 5 year old soiling and wetting

Charlie so sorry that you are having such a difficult time with this. You have done so many of the sensible things already. It is highly unlikely to be due to any congenital pathology and much more likely to be developmental. ie she will eventually grow out of it Im not sure a specialist paediatric ...

Re: Utis

Riggy You should get a referral to a functional urologist who specialises in this area MS patients often have bladder issues which reflect the severity of the MS Often some urodynamics will help define the severity of the issue and what treatment is the best for you It might be oral medications, BOT...

Re: Non stop UTIS since isc

The key issue here is whether there is an alternative to intermittent catheters. Why is he retaining urine? Is this just a temporary thing prior to a TURP/ Bladder Neck Incision operation or is there a neurological component? If the former he would be better off just getting on with it. ISC can ofte...

Re: painful bladder

Redmaggie i agree this is quite a difficult one and doesn't sound like simple OAB You are also doing all the right things Most likely a painful bladder syndrome/IC situation I would get a referral to a specialist functional urologist. Re: Leaking

Urge incontinence is usually associated with urgency and not getting to the toilet in time It can be helped by drinking less caffeine and fizzy drinks, and drinking more clear fluids Concentrated urine can irritate the bladder hence why drinking more fluids can help. Re: UTI using catheters

It sounds like you are probably doing everything correctly. Be careful not to touch the catheter on anything before it goes in Clean the area prior to starting Only use a catheter once it might be worth sending your urine for culture to check there isn't ongoing UTI/colonisation Other option is to t...

Re: Bladder control

Although the actual bladder capacity is usually around 500mls, the functional capacity may be much less if the bladder is overly sensitive or overactive. Needing to void small amounts is a symptom of an irritable bladder. Sometimes just being dehydrated and having concentrated urine can trigger this...

Re: urgency

Im not sure specifically about hypnotherapy but the higher mental function definitely plays a role in this condition and it may work. Bladder training is a practical solution as well as avoiding caffeine and other bladder irritants. This condition is probably urge incontinence from overactive bladde...

Re: How to treat Overactive Bladder

Yes i agree with Sachin You need a cystoscopy and urodynamics to define exactly what is going on The treatments may be directly into the bladder such as Cystistat or possibly Botox for the bladder if primarily overactive. A functional urologist is the best person and most most major units have one o...

Re: Nephrectomy Patient

Wow sounds like you had an awful time. If the other kidney is healthy the chances of it failing are very low. Can’t really blame the chest infections on the single kidney. You should make sure you have regular blood pressure checks, urine tests and kidney function blood tests to keep an eye on it. R...
