Hi, pain swelling and stiffness are hallmarks for inflammatory disease. I would certainly ask your GP to have a look. Blood tests including ESR and CRP, as well as a Hand x-ray would be helpful. Osteopenia is weakening of the bone. It can lead to Osteoporosis which would then make you at higher risk for sustaining a fracture. yes cold damp weather is not good for arthritic joints.
Stay warm, warm baths, and wear gloves outside.

First and foremost you need to be assessed by your GP.
You are describing unexplained back pain for 4 months.
This needs appropriate investigations and follow up.

If you are having a flare of your inflammatory arthritis you need to get in touch with your Rheumatology Department. They may consider a steroid injection if appropriate

This all depends weather you are having pain from active inflammed joints or not. There are a variety of medication available with potential side effects but most people do not have a problem on them. You need to see if your investigations can be speeded up at all, or go back to your Specialist Nurs...

Most Back pain settles within 6-8 weeks.
