Re: Rosacea - treatment

Dear Hayley, it might be best without treatment while you trying for a child, although Erythromycin appears to be safe in pregnancy. I would suggest just sun protection with factor 50 and identify/avoid other triggers of flushing if you can. with best wishes, Dr Anton Alexandroff Consultant Dermatol...

Re: Eczema, steroids and chicken pox

Hello

patients with eczema may have a more severe chicken pox, and steroids (topical or taken by mouth) may also increase severity of chicken pox. Perhaps it might be best to wait until your boy finishes steroids.

Re: ezcema spread

Good evening! In addition, I would suggest to check with your dermatologist whether it would be useful to do allergy testing (patch testing) to make sure you have not developed skin allergy (allergic contact dermatitis) to exogenous chemicals you may come in contact with in household products or at ...

Re: Darkened Skin on Face

Good evening! I would prefer if you would use a milder steroid for example eumovate or betnovate 1:4 dilution or synalar 1:4 - 1:10 dilution. But if you must to use Elocon , I would recomend to use it sparingly on face and no more that 3-4 times a week. If it does not help, please consult your derma...

Re: Painful Acne

Hello, you can start from panoxyl gel available overcounter, but your acne sounds quite severe so it may not respond to panoxyl alone. You need to see your GP or a skin specialist to have antibiotics prescribed. Oral contraceptive pill may also help. There are also other treatment available from you...

Re: Firm white bump on nose

HI

without examining it, it is impossible to say what it is, and whether it is a skin cancer or not.
Non melanoma skin cancers are rare in 30s but not unheard of.
You need to see your GP or a skin specialist to establish what it is.

Re: Jewellery & rashes

Hello, although skin reaction to platinum (allergic contact dermatitis) is rare, it is still possible. Alternatively you may react to nickel contained in the ring. Alternatively soap may get trapped under the ring and irritate skin (irritant contact dermatitis). You need to see a dermatologist first...

Re: Pompholyx

Hello Charlotte, you need to sort out your eczema really. You may need a more potent steroid for the time being such as dermovate and then maintain response with elocon. You will also need plenty of very greasy moisturizers such as emulsifying ontment (do not use it straight before or after dermovat...

Re: Psoriasis scarring

Hello when psoriasis resolves it often leaves discoloration which usually fades away with time. I think this is what is happening in your case. we do not recomend super potent topical steroids in patients with psoriasis because they can sometimes cause skin atrophy (permanent marks), but we use mild...
