Re: Psychological effect of food allergies on children
Hello Julia h Thanks for your post. It is a very important and difficult aspect of allergies isn't it? St Thomas' had, or indeed may still have, a psychologist attached to the department, so it might be useful to speak to your allergy team there as it could be more focused towards your daughters nee...

Re: Multiple allergies in 18 month old
Hi Rhosasmum Thank you for your post. It sounds like you have a lot going on with your daughter. I would recommend that you do seek referral to a paediatric allergy clinic sooner rather than later as you have many foods causing a reaction and a lot of support you could gain from a specialist dietiti...

Re: Dog Allergy
Hi figkimber Thanks for your post. Sorry to hear your child is struggling with eczema and it sounds like a good thing he got tested for allergies. Aeroallergens can flare up eczema in certain children. House dust mites can be a real problem in certain eczema cases. Allergy UK has a useful informatio...

Re: several foods that produce a reaction
Hi Veganlyn
If you are excluding multiple foods it really would be sensible to see and allergist and specialist dietitian to make sure you are still having a balanced diet. Someone needs to take a thorough history from you and help you pin point what is happening to you

Re: Dog and cat allergies
Hi allymom
If the dog and cat allergy is tending to flare his eczema the vast majority will flare within 48 hours. Though if he lives with these pets then his eczema would be chronically flared. Wheezing and hives will be much more acute and would manifest within a few hours.

Re: Chlorine allergy
Hello Nadetopetrova Often children with sensitive skin will react to chlorine in swimming pools, especially if they have eczema. It can be quite an irritant. With my patients who have eczema and want to swim I tend to recommend a good barrier cream prior to swimming, wash off thoroughly post swim an...

Re: Where can you get information on unusual allergies?
Hi R2D2
I think Dr Rutokowski has covered most things, but I don't believe there is a parental forum where you can pool information on more unusual allergies, Allergy UK might be open to such a suggestion....

Re: Milk allergy in 19 month old
Hi Emi.george Just in addition to Dr Rutkowski's suggestion, if your child is tolerating your breast milk with cow's milk in your diet I would not manipulate your diet. Not all children react to cow's milk through breast milk. Your child sounds clinically much improved on a sow's milk free diet but ...

Re: Mild allergy
Hi Cherelly You can have an allergy to Kiwi where you will experience tingling and swelling of the lips. It is difficult to know whether this could lead to a serious reaction or not. Kiwi is quite easy to avoid if you are concerned or you can get skin prick testing done by your local allergist if yo...
