I have always used moisturiser on my whole body but as I get older should I be using a thicker cream?

As I am moving into the menopauses my skin is turning into my elderly mothers – ie all wrinkly; is there anything I can do to either prevent this as seems to be happening before my eyes! Someone mentioned to look at my oestrogen levels?
