Re: how to I keep healthy bowels?
Hi Carolyn, Agree with Dr Hayat, you certainly seem to have had to deal with a lot of GI issues. Appears you have a mix of malabsorption from the pancreatic insufficiency effecting small bowel and constipation effecting large bowel. As suggested higher Creon doses and proton pump inhibitors will als...

Re: Is this just constipation?
Hi Mandy,
Thanks for posting. You are describing constipation, but I would need more detail to be able to help any further. This would be regarding frequency of bowel habits, hard/soft, straining, how long has this been an issue, do you get diarrhoea/rectal bleeding, your age, diet.

Re: Diverticulitis
Hi Rosie,
The advice for diverticular is to have a high fibre diet.
The true cause of your diarrhoea may not be the diverticular.
Your GP or a Gastroenterologist can investigate further.

Re: I’m so confused with my symptoms
Hi Melissa, I can see how all the symptoms can be confusing. The key to your symptoms is the reaction you had after the bowel prep for colonoscopy. It would seem that your colon is becoming overloaded and the diarrhoea is a secondary symptom. Once the colon was emptied you clearly felt better. It ca...

Re: Metformin and Diarrhoea
Hi Kat, As you already know Metformin is known to cause diarrhoea. The good news is that you can remain on Metformin, especially if diabetes being well controlled. Slow release Metformin does not cause diarrhoea. Please see your GP and discuss this change. As Wendy says other causes of diarrhoea are...

Re: I’m so confused with my symptoms
Hi Melissa, You have described your symptoms well. It's clearly been a change to the bowel habits that you have been used to before and its effecting your quality of life. I have seen others with this pattern of symptoms. It's reassuring that you have had the correct tests to date and they have rule...
