I'm a fan of the water trick. If I feel hungry I drink some water. If the craving goes away, great. If not, I analyze my hunger and see if it's just me being bored and wanting to snack. Totally agree with the professor.
The only way to lose weight is to take in less calories than you are burning off. So the low effort way would be to eat just enough calories to sustain your health and to move around more. Whether it be simply going for a walk more often or doing yoga, etc.
