Re: alergy and intolerance testing

Hello

It would be a similar reply to the one I posted above - you need to be referred to an allergy clinic where they can do a focussed history and then base their testing on that

Re: allergy testing a child

Hi Catntl

you would need to be reviewed by a GP and referred to an allergy clinic where they can do skin prick testing or blood tests based on a focussed history.

Re: Acute urticaria

Hi Jagott Spontaneous urticaria can be very debilitating. Sadly they aren't fobbing you off - the cause of the urticaria is normally endogenous rather than exogenous i.e you aren't reacting to a stimuli from the outside world, it is more of an internal process, reacting to self. Sometimes it is trig...

Hi Catsholiday

It is a high protein source made from a fungus similar to some mushrooms. Can you tolerate mushrooms?

Great Alexm

Make sure you use them regularly and that you have a good eye drop such as opatanol and then reassess how your season has been. If you are still having break through symptoms then definitely escalate further as immunotherapy can be really good in the right patient.

Hi Lorraine

I wonder if it might be sensible for you to get referred to a dermatologist for patch testing and advice on treating these rashes.

Re: penicillin allergy

Hi Racheltate You would need to go to a paediatric allergy clinic for formal diagnosis, however most clinics will ask you to simply avoid penicillin if she is a healthy girl with little requirement for antibiotics that can be foreseen. This is generally because there are other antibiotics about ther...

Hi simonmat

Homeopathic remedies are not available on the NHS and I cannot answer to their veracity.

If the antihistamines make you drowsy you might consider a nasal spray as an alternative to oral medication which would be efficacious.

Hi Chronicfighter

If you haven't seen your allergist for 20 years I would definitely get reviewed again, they would be able to optimise asthma medication and discuss environmental allergies with you.

Re: Winter allergies

Hi pixel

Do you get symptoms all year round? Have you considered house dust mites as the culprit? There is some information on Allergy UK about them which might be useful.

Please do make sure you are appropriately treated, ask you GP if you need to escalate your treatment.
