TH+ Expert Webinar with Mike Broadbent: Understanding psychodynamic counselling

Living with a chronic condition can be a struggle, particularly when battling with mental health issues too. Talking therapies, such as psychodynamic counselling, can help to bring relief and cultivate positivity that can better your poor mental health.

In this webinar Mike Broadbent, psychodynamic counsellor and counselling teacher, takes us through the theories and practices that underpin psychodynamic counselling.

Psychodynamic counselling is based on the clinically-derived theory that our feelings, motives and decisions are influenced by our past experiences and even subconscious memories. This means that sometimes, although a person's mental health might be affected by current circumstances, it can also be affected by difficult past histories. A psychodynamic counsellor helps people to process these past events and release some of the negative emotions that may have been bottled up for years.

In this exclusive webinar Mike Broadbent, accredited psychodynamic counsellor and counselling teacher, talks about what to expect when visiting a psychodynamic therapist. He also gives an insight into some of the theories that underpin psychodynamic counselling, including the effect that early childhood experiences can have on day-to-day functioning as an adult.
