Stephen Kownacki is a recently retired GP with a longstanding interest in skin disease. He qualified in 1973 and worked as a Hospital Practitioner in Dermatology for 30 years.

As executive chair of the PCDS for the past 13 years he has written and lectured widely on dermatology, dermoscopy, service provision and accreditation matters. He now spends most of his time helping to run conferences and teaching GPs and Nurses about the range of skin diseases as well as representing GPs on many dermatology committees. He enjoys helping GPs and Nurse Practitioners cope with the wide range of challenging skin conditions they face daily in a light-hearted but memorable way.

He recently discussed acne with Vanessa Phelps on her radio show and contributes to health and general magazines about skin disease to demystify medical care to the general public.
